Abstract:In order to analyze the characteristics of heavy snowfall weather in Lhasa,a diagnostic analysis was conducted on the heavy snowfall weather in the eastern part of Lhasa from March 20,2021 to 22,using European Center reanalysis data,MICAPS routine observation data,ground satellite data,and other data.The results indicate that the split shortwave trough in the westerly trough provides a strong triggering mechanism for precipitation weather in Lhasa city.The strong divergent suction effect at 200 hPa altitude is significant.The southern to central regions of the plateau are located on the right rear side of the jet stream inflow zone,which is conducive to the uplift of large-scale systems.The invasion of strong cold air is conducive to forcing uplift and coordinating with the eastward movement of mesoscale systems.In addition,the strong convergence center in the central to eastern part of the plateau is conducive to maintaining atmospheric upward movement,and the upward movement zone extends vertically to around 250 hPa.Strong upward movement is very beneficial for blizzard weather.The research results provide reference for the forecasting of heavy snowfall weather in Lhasa city.
