Abstract：This paper elaborates the strategic significance of Meteorological and hydrological protection over South China Sea and analyzes some dangerous weather that have great impacts on the maritime activities. Coupled atmosphere-ocean model is proposed based on the analysis of the current domestic and international maritime weather forecasting development. The establishment of South China Sea coupled model is helpful to study air-sea interaction processes over this region, thereby enhancing the ability of marine weather forecasting, then improving the ability of Meteorological and hydrological protection over South China Sea.
