Abstract This study sorted out the status quo of water environment of Yantai City,and analyzed and calculated its water pollution load and water environmental capacity according to the characteristics of its hilly terrain.The statistical results show that the water pollution load exceeds the carrying capacity of its water environment capacity,and the excess amounts of pollutants are COD 22 700 t/a,ammonia nitrogen 1 795t/a,and total phosphorus 232 t/a,respectively.Therefore,according to the actual situation of water pollution in Yantai city,the guiding scheme of water pollution control is put forward.
