Abstract In order to solve the problem of excessive data volume and inefficient transmission in regional automatic meteorological stations,a regional automatic meteorological station observation data compression method consisting of multiple data compression strategies is proposed.The characteristics of data packets from regional automatic weather stations were analyzed,and the advantages of data compression transmission were introduced.Based on the data content and overall data,re encoding method,differential processing method,data dictionary encoding method,and dropout processing method were proposed,and each type of compression strategy was described.Analyzed the transmission efficiency of compression method through compression ratio.
