Analysis of radar echo characteristics of a strange path plateau vortex heavy precipitation |

Abstract Based on multi-source meteorological data analysis,a heavy precipitation weather process triggered by a singular path plateau vortex on July 21-26,2010,and the three-dimensional structure and evolution characteristics of radar echoes during the main precipitation periods were studied.The results show that low vortex precipitation mainly occurs in the southeast direction of the vortex center,and there is spatiotemporal consistency between the strong radar echo area close to the vortex center and the movement and development of the low vortex.The long-term intrusion of dry and warm air causes changes in the temperature and humidity field structure of the vortex,forming a double arc-shaped precipitation zone with inner and outer layers,which is an important factor for the vortex to trigger precipitation over long distances.The low vortex precipitation echo is mainly composed of layered mixed precipitation echoes,and the strong rising air near the vortex center and basin edge causes the convective cell echo top in this area to be higher than other areas,resulting in stronger precipitation intensity.
