Abstract This paper researches the application of telephone line isolation and protection device in hydrology telemetric system over Three Gorges from Pingshan to Cuntan area, in order to eliminate instrument damage in telemetry station caused by lightning though telephone line. This device effectively reduces the lightning attacks for telemetry station, improves the anti-interference capacity of the device and greatly reduces the probability of interference damage to the modem in the whole system.
