Abstract Based on different platforms, radar equipment in various applications in the ocean observations domestically and inter-nationally are summed up. Detailed parameters and working conditions of different facilities, the advantages and disadvantages, the corresponding business manufactures and sellers and the use of different equipment in China are listed in the paper. The future devel-opments of wave measurement are considered as a reference for the detection and observation system of ocean environment of China in the end.
