Abstract This paper introduces a method for automatically archiving weather observational data of the new generation weather radar in Xining. The PRG and PUP system of type CINRAD/CD weather radar produces a large number of basic observation and secondary product data which are stored in different menu documents and occupy a large quantity of hard disk space. So the working personnel should frequently manage and consolidate all radar data to reserve them from losing and ensure the normal operation of the computers, the workload of which is heavy and inefficient. Therefore the batch program of VB Compile System can command RAR orders at fixed time to compressing and archiving the data automatically, which can overwhelmingly improve the working efficiency. Practices show that using VB Compile System to achieve the data filing is more reliable and efficient.
