Development status and trend of ocean buoy in China

Abstract  Ocean buoys have gradually been taking seriously and developed as a new modern marine monitoring technology.This paper describes the development history of the ocean buoys in all major marine countries, and introduces the distribution of all the ocean buoys in Yellow Sea, Bohai Sea, East China Sea and South China Sea which were laid by the coastal provinces under the leadership of the marine observation & research network established by Chinese academy of science.The types, functionalities, communications, marine environmental monitoring parameters and other information of these distributed ocean buoys in China Sea are described.The research and application of our ocean buoys have developed towards the trends of adopting new technology, reducing costs, improving reliability, expanding the functionalities, extending the working life, convenient placement, thematic oriented multi-station, high density distributed and all water monitoring covered.
