Abstract Assessment methods are designed to evaluate the automated present weather observing instruments.It makes reference to the meteorological needs and weather phenomena artificial observation.According to the early test results,the methods for precipitation,ground condensation and atmospheric obscurity and suspensoids are studied,mainly focusing on the acquisition performance and identify performance.The assessment methods are based on functional specification instructions of weather phenomena observing instruments.The test targets are being provided in this paper to provide the basis for the weather phenomena automatic assessment test.
