Lightning protection measures for Pingsha monitoring station of Zhuhai GHG monitoring network |

Abstract Using the lightning location data from 1999 to 2009 in Pingsha monitoring station of Zhuhai GHG monitoring network within 3km area,combined with its geographical profile of the station,this paper analyzes the lightning hazards,computes the anticipated per-year number of lightning,the electric surge amplitude of intruding lightning and the lightning electromagnetic field intensity. From the computation results,protective measures have been suggested against direct lightning strikes,intruding lightning surges and lightning electromagnetic pulses,which may provide dependable assurance of stable operation for Pingsha monitoring station of Zhuhai monitoring network.
