Abstract Meteorological measurement laboratory has a wide range of business, a number of work process and a large amount of data information. It is of great significance to ensure the quality of China meteorological observation data. Therefore, it is urgent to reform the traditional laboratory management methods, so as to realize the modernization and informatization of the meteorological measurement laboratory. Firstly, this paper points out the existing problems, and the objectives and specific functions are determined. Then, according to the requirement analysis, six function modules are designed in detail including the system settings, instrument transceiver, data input, data auditing, query statistics and device management. Finally, based on the C/S model, using the STUDIO VISUAL tool to design and develop the system, the data storage and information sharing are achieved by applying database technology and SOCKET technology, which can realize data processing and testing automatically. The system has been implemented in business operation with a good and stable operation status. In routine laboratory work, it plays an important role. The laboratory operates towards the information and automation direction with steady steps. The working efficiency between clients and staff is significantly improved.
