Abstract This paper gives an overview of the operation of automatic soil moisture station in Hubei province and the significance of automatic soil moisture monitoring for agricultural production and scientific research.By comparing the data before and after the verification of the DZN3 automatic soil moisture observation sensor in Hubei province,the absolute error and its correlation between the artificial data and automatic station data are analyzed.And the main reasons that cause the data error of the automatic station are discussed.Some suggestions are put forward for the daily maintenance of the stations which have not been tested.The methods introduced laid a solid foundation for the verification of soil moisture monitoring sensor in the future.
