Abstract  By analyzing and comparing the manual observation precipitation data of four surface meteorological observation stations in Xingtai area during the parallel observation period from August 2018 to July 2019 and the automatic observation data of DSG4 precipitation phenomenon instrument, and the data consistency, empty report rate and data recording methods were comprehensively analyzed and evaluated. The results show that DSG4 precipitation phenomenon instrument can better complete the automatic identification of precipitation phenomenon, realize the continuous observation of precipitation weather phenomenon, and reduce the burden of manual observation. However, there are still false report, missing report, misjudgment and other error records,so it is necessary to manually revise the automatic precipitation observation data.It is suggested to further improve the instrument performance and optimize the identification algorithm of precipitation phenomenon.
