Abstract This paper expounds the principle and method of making defilade angle diagram and iso beam height of weather radar.By showing the steps to obtain the original data,and using the Doppler radar objective location software to draw the defilade angle diagram,iso-beam height map and mosaicked iso-beam height map,so the shielding condition,detection ability and the compensating effect of this method on observing blind area around X-band radar in Wufeng are analyzed,which provides certain reference significance for the study of location selection method and radar detection ability of weather radar.
