Abstract This paper compares and analyzes the sunshine duration observed manually and automatically by the dark tube sunshine meter and the FS-RZ1 photoelectric automatic sunshine meter of Jingmen National Meteorological Observation Station from January to December in 2018.The results show that the annual cumulative difference of sunshine duration between the two meters is small and the daily data has a very good correlation and the difference is evenly distributed.The main reason for the large time difference is the difference of time resolution and sensitivity of different instruments.
