Comparative analysis on ADTD and VLF/LF lightning location system of cloud-to-ground lightning data in Guangxi |

Abstract In order to compare the accuracy of the ADTD and VLF/LF lightning location data,based on the ADTD and VLF/LF cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning data from 2016 to 2018 and elevation in Guangxi,this paper studies the CG lightning different distribution characteristics between the two lightning location systems.The results show that the two systems have some essentially consistent distribution trends on the monthly and daily variations of CG lightning frequency as well as the monthly variation of the percentage of positive CG lightning frequency accounting for negative CG lightning.However,there are larger differences in the frequency of CG lightning,CG lightning days,the percentage of negative CG lightning frequency accounting for total CG lightning,lightning density,lightning intensity and so on between the two systems.The subtraction of lightning density detected by the two systems is decreasing with increasing elevation.The CG lightning frequency ratio of 0~50kA per unit area of VLF/LF system has a good correlation with the elevation.However,the monitoring results of ADTD system show that the correlation between them is not significant.
