Abstract  In order to improve the timeliness of soil moisture monitoring, guide agricultural production, effectively serve the agriculture, rural areas and farmers, this paper uses ZY1200 soil moisture quick-monitoring instrument and artificial observation equipment to conduct a comparison test of soil moisture content monitoring at 5 soil depths of 10cm,20cm,30cm,40cm and 50cm at Datong meteorological station.A total of 148 sets of data collected by artificial and instrumental means were obtained during the two months from May 28 to July 18 in 2019.The results show that the monitoring for the soil moisture content by ZY1200 portable soil moisture quick-monitoring instrument is convenient, fast and timely, but the accuracy is not high. The correlation coefficient with artificial soil extraction is 0.765,which can be used as an auxiliary equipment to supplement artificial soil extraction.
