Abstract:Based on the three-dimensional lightning monitoring data measured by the VLF/LF lightning locator in Ulanqab Meteorological Bureau of Inner Mongolia from June to August 2019,this paper compares and analyzes the data with the ADTD lightning location data of the same period. The results show that both VLF/LF and ADTD lightning locators have excellent monitoring capabilities for lightning observations during the flood season in Ulanqab. The VLF/LF type lightning locator is slightly better than the ADTD type in terms of observation accuracy, low current cloud-to-ground (CG) and intracloud (IC) lightning observation etc. There are obvious temporal and spatial characteristics of the CG lightning in flood season in Ulanqab region. There is a certain correlation between the frequent area of CG lightning and the surface water. The IC lightning activity is mainly concentrated in 1~7 km.The negative CG lightning accounts for 88% of the total CG lightning, and the negative IC lightning accounts for 40% of the total IC lightning.
