Abstract:As for the selection of weather radar site,it is required to make an objective analytical judgment for the radar detection environment.In conventional practice,the measurement is mainly done by measuring and calculating the blocking angle diagram and iso-beam height diagram,causing existence of large incompleteness.This paper adopts the subdivision approximation method to calculate effective stereo-spatial volume and various proportions for radar detection.The off-line GIS geographical information system is used to rapidly read out DEM altitude data,timely calculate and output the blocking angle diagram,iso-beam height diagram,effective stereo-spatial volume of detection,dead zone of detection,various proportions and other evaluation results and more objectively and accurately assess the detection clearance conditions.The subdivision approximation calculation method provides a more reasonable assessment method for site selection and better solves the quantitative evaluation problems related to the detection environment of radar station.The practical application of 30 X-band dual-polarization phased array weather radars in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area shows that the method and the implemented software system are feasible and have high practical value.
