| The Analysis of the Relationship between Heavy Rain and |

Abstract An analysis of the relationship between the heavy rainfall from 6 to 7 July 2009 in Nanjing and low level jet is made on the data of boundary wind-profiler. It shows that the hourly wind field derived from wind profile radar data could reveals a close relation between the extent of downward expanding of low-level jet stream and the strong rainfall of meso scal .This index is therefore significant for forecasting magnitude and intense of heavy precipitation. It can provide reference for nowcasting.
