Abstract  In order to reduce and avoid lightning accident of Leping observation station, aiming at the hidden danger of lightning protection safety of Leping ground meteorological observation station, according to the layout of instruments and equipment in observation field and relevant lightning protection measures, the rectification ideas are put forward.By replacing 232/485 communication lines with optical fiber communication, cutting off the power supply before the strong lightning, using lithium battery power supply, installing lightning rod, strictly grounding the internal and external network, shielding and installing surge protective device, equipotential connection and other methods for lightning protection transformation, the instruments and equipment in the observation field have been effectively protected in the process of many strong lightning.
