Abstract In view of the slow download speed and large file storage of GFS global numerical weather forecast data from the United States,this paper presents a preliminary solution,that is,using Tencent cloud computing server to achieve stable and fast data download.The grib2 file format and background field variables of WRF model are also introduced.Data download scripts,reading and writing of grib2 format files based on python,ecCodes and pygrib software,and region clipping are implemented,which reduces useless variables,file size and provides background field for WRF model.Finally,the results are analyzed to provide a reference for operational applications.
