Abstract  Through the method of signal simulation, the theoretical threshold of signal-to-noise ratio of echo signal in the highest effective detection of wind profile radar is obtained. The detection data of the wind profile radar station in Dehua County,Fujian Province and the wind profile radar station in Jinjiang City in 2020 are verified. The results show that the actual signal-to-noise ratio is in good agreement with the theoretical signal-to-noise ratio threshold obtained by signal simulation experiments. The accuracy of the theoretical signal-to-noise ratio threshold and the feasibility of the actual effective maximum detection height of the wind profile radar evaluated by the signal-to-noise ratio threshold algorithm are demonstrated, which provides a new idea for the research of detection height evaluation method of wind profile radar.
