Analysis of radar echo characteristics of short-term heavy rainfall in Yingtan in July 2023

Abstract  In order to do a good job in the weather forecast of short-term heavy rainfall in Yingtan,this paper analyzes four short-term heavy rainfall processes in Yingtan in July 2023 from the aspects of heavy rainfall,weather situation and radar echo characteristics.The results show that the heavy rainfall in Yingtan mainly occurs from afternoon to night.The rainfall is local,long and strong,which often causes heavy rainfall in one or more places.The Yingtan is located in the periphery of the typhoon,with low-level convergence and high-altitude divergence,good water vapor conditions,extremely unstable air stratification and strong unstable energy.The vertical integrated liquid water content in the heavy rainfall area is more than 12 kg/m2,and the strong reflectivity factor is vertically upward and downward.The echo center intensity can reach 55 dBZ or above,and the echo top height of 45 dBZ is 7 km~11 km.When there is a large range of strong echo above 45 dBZ,it is prone to heavy rainfall.The heavy rainfall area is a cyclonic circulation with significant wind direction and wind speed convergence.The research results provide a reference for the monitoring and early warning services of heavy rainfall.
