Abstract  The article uses MM5 and POM models to study the rainfall process in western Guangdong under the influence of Typhoon Sanba.By simulating typhoon track, maximum wind speed, sea level pressure, temperature, total precipitable water and precipitation, as well as the response of sea surface flow field and temperature, the influence of typhoon on this region is analyzed. The results show that the simulated typhoon track is close to the actual observation, the simulated maximum wind speed is slightly lower than the observed value, the sea level pressure distribution and temperature changes are consistent with the observed data, and the simulated precipitation results are consistent with the radar echo map, but there is a certain time lag.The response of ocean surface flow field and temperature to typhoons shows a rightward shift, indicating that the rainfall process of typhoons in western Guangdong is influenced by the marine environment.
