Analysis of lightning characteristics of multiple thunderstorm echo short bands in Jiande |

Abstract In order to further analyze the relationship between thunderstorm echo bands and thunderstorm and lightning activity,this article uses radar mosaic data and lightning data to analyze multiple thunderstorm echo short bands and their lightning characteristics in Hunan,Jiangxi and Zhejiang on April 2,2024.The results showed that multiple thunderstorm echo bands occurred in the cold air southward and southwest trough,along the northeast southwest convergence line,with the maximum intensity of short band echoes reaching 60 dBZ to 70 dBZ.1 hour lightning is distributed in Hunan,Jiangxi and Zhejiang,and the location of the lightning distribution zone is consistent with the location of the thunderstorm echo zone.The thunderstorm cluster moved to the airspace over Jiande,and Jiande experienced more intense thunderstorm weather.Closely monitoring the movement of short bands in thunderstorm echoes is beneficial for understanding the activity patterns of lightning.
