Research on quality evaluation of lightning warning of atmospheric electric field meter |

Abstract In order to investigate the quality of lightning warning using atmospheric electric field instruments,monitoring and lightning location data from three stations in Tongling No.5 Middle School,Maanshan Yintang Agricultural Demonstration Park,and Maanshan Cihu Gate were selected.The lightning frequency,lightning warning signals,and warning quality at different vertical heights within 5 km and 10 km ranges of the three stations were statistically analyzed.The results showed that the atmospheric electric field instrument effectively alerted 60.3% of lightning within a 10 km range,with an average hit rate of 60.0%,an average false alarm rate of 17.5%,and an average TS score of 0.53.Effective warnings were issued for 76.2% of lightning within a 5 km range,with an average hit rate of 64.4%,an average false alarm rate of 34.1%,and an average TS score of 0.48.The atmospheric electric field meter has a higher warning accuracy at stations with higher vertical heights,but the average absolute electric field value is lower.The research results provide a theoretical reference for testing the quality of lightning warning using atmospheric electric field instruments.
