Abstract  This paper analyzes and studies the correlation between the Meteorological Optical Range(MOR) and the Runway Visual Range(RVR) in the automatic meteorological observing system of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. The differences between the MOR and the estimated RVR in different time periods are compared using Allard's law and Koschmieder's Law,and the conclusion is drawn:during the daytime period, the MOR is roughly the same as the RVR,and during the nighttime period, the RVR estimation calculated using Arad's law is reported. For the afternoon to dusk period, both Arad's law and Cauchy's law should be used for calculation, and the higher value should be selected as the RVR valuation, and the continuity of the data should be tested. The research results provide a new reference idea and solution for the research of RVR estimation, and provide a more effective and accurate reference for the aircraft flight safety, the airlines economic benefits and the security work of controllers.
