Analysis of radar echo characteristics of a "multicell storm" |

Abstract In order to better monitor and identify hail clouds,radar data and other methods were used to analyze the hail weather process in southern Jiangxi on March 22,2023,based on the principles and analysis methods of radar meteorology.The results indicate that hail with a maximum diameter exceeding 5 cm can cause severe hail damage.Large hailstones are caused by "multi-cell storms".The wind field rotates clockwise with increasing altitude from the lower relative wind direction,exhibiting distinct warm advection characteristics.In the "multi-cell storm",supercell storms have frequent lightning,and the peak time of lightning frequency is earlier than the peak of strong echo area.After the occurrence of hail,the area of strong echoes rapidly decreases,but the combined reflectivity of echo intensity can be maintained for a period of time.It is hoped that the research results can provide analytical basis for the identification and early warning of hail weather in spring in Jiangxi.
