The impact of urbanization on heavy precipitation in the eastern Qinghai Plateau under the background of new climate state |

Abstract In order to explore the impact of urbanization on heavy precipitation in the eastern part of Qinghai Plateau,based on methods such as percentile method and urban-rural comparison,the evolution characteristics of extreme precipitation events in the eastern part of Qinghai Plateau and the differential characteristics of heavy precipitation events in urban and suburban stations at different stages of urbanization development in the eastern part of Qinghai Plateau were evaluated and analyzed.The results show that the trend of extreme precipitation intensity and the rate of change in precipitation intensity in the eastern urban area of Qinghai Plateau are larger than those in the suburbs,and the difference between the suburbs shows a significant increasing trend over time.Urbanization contributes 86% and 42% to extreme precipitation and extreme heavy precipitation,respectively.There are significant differences in suburban areas during different stages of urbanization,with the frequency of precipitation occurring significantly higher during the rapid period than during the slow period,indicating that the urban effect is evident during the rapid period.
