Abstract In order to improve the accuracy of radar in convective weather recognition and short-term forecasting,the physical parameters and scanning strategies of Doppler weather radar were analyzed,with a focus on exploring the key applications of radar data in monitoring severe convective weather.Basic parameters such as radar reflectivity factor,radial velocity,spectral width,and volumetric scanning data were used to enhance the ability to extract features such as hail,short-term heavy precipitation,and tornadoes through algorithm optimization and dynamic threshold setting.Systematically analyzed the correlation between Doppler radar data characteristics and convective weather systems,and constructed customized parameter configuration schemes for different weather systems.The research results show that the reasonable application of Doppler weather radar technology has positive practical significance for improving the accuracy of short-term forecasting,and has significant application value for optimizing meteorological forecasting services and agricultural production safety.
