Abstract The article uses high-resolution digital elevation model(DEM) data to analyze the occlusion and coverage area of weather radar in Inner Mongolia.Based on the DEM data,the radar coverage ratio of a single weather radar within a scanning range of 150 km at a 0.5° elevation angle is calculated.The Inner Mongolia weather radar coverage is analyzed using the equal beam height puzzle of the weather radar at a height of 1 km.The results show that there are 9 C-band weather radars in Inner Mongolia with a single radar coverage ratio of more than 0.9,2 in 0.8-0.9,2 in 0.6-0.7,and 2 in 0.6-0.7.According to the equal beam height puzzle of the radar at a height of 1 km,Inner Mongolia weather radars basically cover densely populated areas and areas prone to rainstorm disasters,especially the newly built C-band and X-band radars effectively make up for the monitoring blind areas of existing radars.
