Abstract This paper describes the importance of automatic weather observing system (AWOS)for flight operation and makes a simply introduction for the composition of Vaisala automatic weather observing system.Aiming at a lightning strike failure suffered in the system,a detailed analysis and fault location are carried out.Then,its failure maintenance is researched and pointed out,especially the maintenance of MILOS520 automatic weather station.The lightning strike failure case has a certain reference to equipment maintenance staff,helping them maintain the system better and ensuring the normal operation of the flight.
