Abstract SL3-1 tipping bucket automatic rainfall station is widely used in the industry of meteorological and hydrological etc because of its advantages of simple structure and high resolution etc.But its structural characteristics are also easy to cause several problems of data distortion.This paper analyzes the special hidden failures such as spider web adhesion,foreign body hindrance and bad contact between the sensor and the data collector.Through comparing data of the nearby station and increasing the frequency of maintenance and calibration,the failures can be found and solved on time.By means of mutual-emendation between two sets or regular comparison on artificial observation instruments,the record with serious distortion can be avoided.
