Utilizing LIS to analyze lighting activity features in eastern China and its nearby sea |

Abstract By virtue of the detection data collected by the satellite-borne lightning imaging sensor (LIS) from January 1998 to December 2014,the lighting activity features in eastern China and its nearby sea are analyzed .The results show that the lightning density in eastern China (including ocean areas) is higher than ocean.The lightning activity has obvious seasonal and diurnal characteristics.The ocean's optical radiant energy and lightning are consistently higher than the land.Both the optical radiant energy and the lightning duration show a decreasing trend with the increase of latitude.The intensity of light radiant energy is the lowest in summer and the highest in winter,which is more obvious than that of the ocean.
