Abstract  According to simulated precipitation tests that conducted on the SL3-1 rainfall sensors before and after the modification, this paper analyzes the measured value and error value in light rain intensity and heavy rain intensity between the two types of rainfall sensors. The two types of rainfall sensors were placed simultaneously in a number of easily clogged meteorological automatic stations and were monitored in parallel at these stations. And the observation results are studied and analyzed. It is also suggested that hydrophobic materials can be used as raw materials in the production process of rainfall sensors to improve the technology of rainfall sensors.
