Abstract According to the implementation program which was promoted by Meteorological Observation Center of China Meteorological Administration on new ground meteorological observation method and equipment,the comparative observation of manual and automatic observation data in 3 years of snow accumulation from 2013 to 2016 was carried out for DSS1 snow depth observation instrument in Jiamusi weather station.Through the analysis of observation data,the performance and service applicability of automatic snow depth observation instrument are evaluated objectively.The results show that DSS1 snow depth observation instrument has stable performance,high accuracy,low failure rate,easy maintenance and friendly human-computer interface,realizing automatic observation of snow depth and continuous observation data,which would meet the measuring accuracy in the requirements of Specifications for Surface Meteorological Observation.
