Abstract In order to do a good job in meteorological service of Jiangxi heavy rain in flood season and understand the characteristics of satellite cloud images of heavy rain,the precipitation characteristics and cloud image characteristics of Jiangxi heavy rain from June to July 2020 were analyzed by using Jiangxi meteorological station data and MICAPS satellite cloud images.The results show that,in the cloud map,the heavy rainstorm in Jiangxi is mainly characterized in the following three forms,which are ribbon cloud system,flocculent cloud system and flocculent ribbon cloud system.These cloud image characteristics provide an analytical basis for the early warning and forecasting of heavy rain in Jiangxi.
