Abstract This paper introduces the observed data and sources of lightning.Based on the location data of lightning in Beijing from 2010 to 2016,the characteristics of lightning activity in Beijing were analyzed statistically.By analyzing the temporal and spatial variation characteristics of annual,monthly and daily variations of lightning,the variation law is obtained,which can better do lightning protection and provide reference for the analysis and research of lightning characteristics in different periods.
