Abstract  According to the principle of low frequency electromagnetic wave that affects atmospheric electric field and lightning radiation during thunderstorm,a local automatic thunderstorm observation system is developed in this paper. The thunderstorm system records the time and direction of the occurrence and end of thunderstorms according to the rules of manual thunderstorm observation.Combining the characteristics of atmospheric electric field instrument and lightning location system, the "manual" problem in the way of manual observation of thunderstorm is solved. While providing thunderstorm data, products such as atmospheric electric field change, lightning low frequency pulse information are also obtained. These products can be used for thunderstorm warning and network observation.
