Abstract This paper introduces the core technology of augmented reality (AR).The examples are given to illustrate the ways and applications of AR technology affecting meteorological information,meteorological service and meteorological popularization in meteorological fields at home and abroad.Finally,the application prospect of AR technology in meteorological service is analyzed
