Abstract：The national surface meteorological observation competition provides an important platform for general meteorological surface observers to communicate and display their skills. This paper discusses the rationality and integrity of competition proposition through the test structures and contents analysis of the 3rd National Meteorological Surface Observation Competition. It also analyzes mastering condition of surface meteorological observers on technical skills and knowledge in the competition by the examinee answer statistics. To highlight the reformation of surface meteorological observation playing a leading role, the trend of the proposition concept and thinking in the future competition are further analyzed.
