Abstract:Studying the spectral distribution of bubble size in the plume of breaking waves is an important basis for quantifying the role of bubbles in physical ocean processes such as gas exchange at the sea air interface and formation of sea salt aerosols.According to the measurement principle, the measurements methods of bubble plumes are divided into acoustic method, image method, and probe method. The principles, application scenarios, key technologies, advantages and disadvantages of various methods are summarized, and it is concluded that there is still a need to vigorously develop the measurement technology of breaking waves involved in bubble plumes in the open sea.In particular, the focus should be on developing high-precision large-area measurement methods for high-density,high gas content and large bubble plumes involved in wave breaking moments, providing technical reference for large-area measurement of the entire life cycle of bubble plumes.
