Abstract:Based on conventional ground meteorological data and weather map data,a statistical analysis was conducted on the 102 day hail process that occurred in Fuzhou City from 1960 to 2020.The results show that the number of hail days in Fuzhou City is less in the north and south, and more in the middle and east, with two high-value areas.Hail in Fuzhou is mainly concentrated in spring, with the highest number of hail days in March.Hail is prone to occur between the afternoon and evening. The hail in Fuzhou can be divided into two conceptual models:the southern trough high-pressure bottom type and the high-altitude trough ground inverted trough type. The southern trough high-pressure bottom type mostly occurs from January to March, with hail diameters of 3-6 mm.The triggering mechanism is the convergence zone of high and low air jet streams, strong vertical wind shear, and surface cold front. The high-altitude trough ground inverted trough type often occurs from March to May,with hail diameters of 8-15 mm.The triggering mechanism is that the ground cold front guides cold air into the inverted trough and the convergence system of the middle and low-level shear lines. The research results provide a reference basis for monitoring, warning, and forecasting hail.
