Abstract:Studying the characteristics of hail echoes is key to monitoring and early warning. This article uses meteorological data from Tonggu National Station and "Tianyan" radar mosaic data, and applies radar meteorology principles and analysis methods to analyze individual cases of hail in Tonggu. The results showed that there were 4 hail events (hail diameter≥1 cm) in Tonggu area from 2013 to 2024.Hail weather is often accompanied by weather systems such as 500 hPa trough,850 hPa shear, southwest jet stream, and 925 hPa ultra-low altitude jet stream. The echo type of hail in Tonggu is supercell.Strong echoes≥60 dBZ or the presence of stronger echo nuclei on the combined reflectance map.The development height of strong echoes of≥60 dBZ on the vertical profile exceeds 8 km.CAPPI shows strong echoes of≥60 dBZ at a height of 9 km,with a vertical thickness of 8 km to 9 km.The contour time series shows the hourly evolution process of strong echoes from hail supercells. The research results provide analytical basis for monitoring and warning of severe weather in Tonggu area.
