Abstract Taking the failures of evaporation sensor of CAWS600-SE automatic weather station in Guangzhou national basic meteorological station on July 16th,2011 as an example,this paper illustrates the reasons that caused the failures of evaporationsensor.According to the basic principle of automatic evaporation observation,the matters needing attention in the daily maintenance and treatment methods for abnormal evaporation data are described.
