Abstract Based on the FDR principle,this paper introduces a portable soil moisture meter and its practical application.This instrument has the functions of field reading and data storage.And its sensor specifications meet the design requirement of portable soil moisture meter regulated by China meteorological administration.This meter is able to make the moisture measurement in all kinds of soil and variety medium.It is also used in early warning for soil moisture monitoring,which is helpful to improve emergency observation of soil moisture.This paper makes a comparative analysis on the artificial and test data in the three stations.Then,the suggestions for rational operation of the instrument is put forward.
