Abstract  This paper introduces the definition of measurement accuracy and maximum allowable error,and makes a systematic analysis and comparison from the aspects of concept source,historical evolution and industry use.The advantages and disadvantages of the two and the suggestions of industry specifications are given out, which provides references for the confirmation of terminology and evaluation methods for measuring performance indexes of meteorological instruments.
