Abstract In order to accurately measure the wind speed and direction,and make up for the shortcomings of traditional handheld thermal anemometers such as easy damage and inability to measure wind direction,this paper designs a circular thermal anemometer based on the temperature sensor array according to the principle of thermal anemometry.The 32 temperature sensors of the anemometer are uniformly distributed in a 4×8 array,and the method for calculating the wind speed and direction of the anemometer is determined according to the Gaussian distribution function method and the temperature sensor average method.This paper uses FLUENT software to simulate the temperature field distribution around the sensor,builds a test platform,and fits the temperature data measured under different ambient temperatures and different wind speeds.A genetic algorithm is proposed to optimize the BP neural network to compensate for the measurement error caused by the ambient temperature.The results of indoor and outdoor measurements show that the circular array thermal anemometer has a better wind measurement effect.
